VIJAYAWADA: Competitive political war between Telugu Desam and YSR Congress over alleged attacks on party cadre has been continuing as TD leaders lodged complaints with AP DGP Gautam Sawang on Friday, by presenting him two books on YSRC’s attack on TD cadre and further sought action against YSRC.
Similarly, YSRC leaders also conducted a rally at Mangalagiri and lodged complaints with Mr Sawang on Friday, seeking action against former AP Women’s Commission chairperson and TD leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari for abusing Dalits and against TD MLA K. Atchannaidu for abusing policemen.
TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to visit Atmakur on September 18 to interact with the victims. Hence, YSRC is also planning to visit the village to expose TD attack on YSRC cadre in Atmakur in the past five years.
Telugu Desam leaders Atchannaidu, Dokka Maniyka Varaprasad, N. Anand Babu, K.S. Jawahar, Chittibabu and others submitted a letter of TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu to AP DGP Sawang seeking protection to 545 families to return to their native places in AP State.
These families are associated with TD. Hence, YSR Congress allegedly carried out attacks on them and they are forced to leave their native places. TD leaders claimed that these families have been living in other places for the past 110 days and sought action against YSRC for displacing the TD cadre. They alleged that 10 TD activists were killed in YSRC attacks, false cases were registered against 12 TD MLAs and former MLAs after elections.
On July 1, TD submitted a memorandum about attack on cadre in Palnadu but there has been reportedly no action. Hence, they have called for Chalo Atmakuru protest. They sought action against the police officials who allegedly mingled with YSRC, forcing TD activists to leave the villages.
YSRC Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, with leaders and activists, conducted a rally and further lodged complaint in the DGP office. Mr Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that TD suppressed and insulted Dalits in its five years of rule and is now again trying to insult the Dalits. He demanded the arrest of Ms Rajakumari and other leaders for abusing the Dalit woman SI and further Atchannaidu for abusing policemen. He and other leaders warned that YSRC will expose the atrocities of TD through its victims and demanded the Police Department to give protection to YSRC cadre from TD attacks.
