Bengaluru: Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani met Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa here on Friday and discussed the implementation of the Centrally sponsored Poshan Abhiyaan scheme in the state.
The scheme aims at eradication of malnutrition among children and women. The minister stressed the need to popularise the scheme in rural Karnataka and said NGOs working for the development of women and children should join hands with the government to implement Poshan Abhiyaan.
The CM said that permission has been given to 11 districts to take up the programme. "I have already instructed district officials to implement the scheme, which will help get rid of malnutrition", Mr Yediyurappa said.
