NELLORE: Telugu Desam leader and former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy was questioned by the Police at Venkatachalam Mandal police station, in Nellore district on Friday, in connection with a land dispute case.
Under the directions of the court, a case has been filed against Somireddy as A1, over the sale of 2.41 acres of land in Survey No.58-3 with ‘forged documents’ under Idimepalle revenue division in Venkatachalam mandal and also a ‘fake GPA’ was created with the assistance of the mandal surveyor. In connection with the case, the Police summoned Somireddy last week.
According to the sources, Mr Somireddy is said to have produced 16 documents to Venkatachalam Police to prove his innocence in the alleged land dispute case. TD leaders and activists from Sarvepalli segment and also across the district reached Venkatachalam Police Station in support of the former minister.

I don't know why the Police booked a criminal case while a civil case is still in the court. I have filed a petition in the High Court and the hearing would be on September 17,” Mr Somireddy told mediapersons here on Friday.
“I didn’t go anywhere. Some of the YSR Congress leaders created such rumours against me. I was always available before the Police”, he added.
Meanwhile, Police registered a case Cr.No.212/2019 u/s 120(b), 471, 468, 447, 427, 379 r/w 34 IPC & Sec.156(3) CrPC, including the former minister as A1. According to the FIR, the land that belongs to one Yeluru Ranga Reddy has been encroached....
