P K Kunhalikutty urges Congress to heed concerns

Mr Kunhalikutty demanded the CPM leadership shed murder politics.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader P. K. Kunhalikutty has demanded AICC leadership to hold talks with allies. In a television interview, he also urged the LDF government to act more responsibly against increasing political murders. Mr Kunhalikutty is coming out with a warning almost a week after Kerala Congress (M) left the UDF. He asked the Congress to correct its steps as well.

In a strongly worded statement, he said all the allies have existence issues, and IUML is observing political developments carefully. He said all have apprehensions on how well UDF would fare and so the ball is in the court of Congress to correct themselves. “Earlier when there were issues in the front, AICC leadership used to intervene. But now it's not happening. When qualitative discussions take place, it will be beneficial to the UDF," he said.

He, however, shied away from replying to a question on Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala's alleged role in the bar scam. He said though it cannot be said so, Mani was peeved at the turn of events. Mr Kunhalikutty demanded the CPM leadership shed murder politics. He offered all help from IUML supporters in bringing peace in Nadapuram.
