Ulema urges religious heads to avoid participating in debates on TV channels

Religious heads demand the government to take action against the BJP spokesperson who made blasphemous remarks against the Prophet

Hyderabad: The ulema urged Muslim leaders and religious heads to avoid taking part in debates organised by national TV news channels.

In a joint press conference, the ulema representing different schools of thought cautioned the participants from the community that the programmes were being taken up with an agenda to create a rift between communities.

Mufti Ghiyasuddin Rahmani, Maulana Muhammad Banayeem Mazahiri, Maulana Ubaidurrahman Athar Nadwi, Maulana Ghiyas Ahmad Rashadi and several others demanded that the government take tough action against the BJP spokespersons who had indulged in blasphemous remarks against the Prophet.

"It is the responsibility of every individual, and follower of every religion to boycott the television channels which are more prone to spread hatred, malice and pseudo information in their communal debates. Some so-called Muslims participate in the debates and make inappropriate and half-baked remarks against the leaders of other religions. Muslims strongly disapprove of any act of disrespect of any religion or personality of other religions," they said.
