Win for Congress, not coalition, says Siddaramaiah

People were already in favour of the Congress.

Mysuru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while reacting to the victory of Ms Sowmya Reddy, daughter of former home minister Mr Ramalinga Reddy in the Jayanagar bypoll, said that it is a victory of the Congress party and not of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government.

Mr Siddaramaiah said, “We had expected that we would win in Jayanagar and even Rajarajeswarinagar, So people have given the verdict as per our expectations. We knew we would win more seats in Bengaluru, now out of 28, we have won 15 seats.

Even if the elections had happened on May 12, we would have won. People were already in favour of the Congress. It was the constituency where Mr Ramalinga Reddy had contested several times, he had a base there.

His daughter has developed good relations with the public over a period of time, she enjoys a good network with different NGOs and is involved in activities pertaining to the environment and other sectors. She is very active and dynamic, that is why people accepted her,” he said showering praise on Ms Sowmya Reddy.
