Congress MLAs continue attacks on party over cabinet expansion

AICC president, Rahul Gandhi wants to promote youngsters, but here in Karnataka the party should have promoted real talent, Sudhakar said.

Bengaluru: Congress MLAs continued to give the party a hard time over the Cabinet expansion on Wednesday. Party MLA from Chikkaballapur, Dr K. Sudhakar told the party workers of his constituency that 20 to 30 MLAs would meet on June 15 to discuss their future course of action.

“AICC president, Rahul Gandhi wants to promote youngsters, but here in Karnataka the party should have promoted real talent. When for decades, Congress and JD(S) workers have fought, how can they forget everything and unite at the grassroots now?” he demanded, warning that if the party continued to make one mistake after the other, the voters would not back it.

And while former minister, H.M. Revanna reiterated that he would not quit the Congress party, he expressed serious concern about Ms Jayamala being inducted into the cabinet.

“She will be the floor leader of the party. Can she handle the pressure of the responsibility? I doubt it,” he said.

Elsewhere, supporters of former minister, Shamanoor Shivashankarappa held a protest outside the residence of KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwara demanding a cabinet berth for the veteran leader and self-styled god-woman, Maate Mahadevi, urged former minister, M.B. Patil to leave the Congress party for depriving him of a cabinet berth.

Accusing the party of insulting the Lingayats, she claimed it had won 78 seats only because of the community's support. “It would otherwise have won only 28 seats. What did the Congress give it in return? Nothing. Instead it has punished M.B. Patil for spearheading the movement. I request Mr Patil to leave the party on account of this insult,” she added.
