Farmers kept in police station before land survey, alleges Congress

Satyam demanded that state government acquire lands from farmers after paying them three times more value than the market rate

JAGTIAL: TPCC official spokesperson Medipally Satyam accused state government of confining farmers belonging to Rajaram and Potharam villages to police station before surveying their lands which are to be acquired for the national highway from Jagtial to Kodada via Karimnagar district.

Speaking after visiting farmers of the two villages on Friday, Satyam said officials had not even issued notices to farmers concerned before conducting the survey of their lands. He observed that though Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has claimed on number of occasions that TRS is a farmer-friendly government, farmers are being confined to police stations. “Is this how a farmer-friendly government functions,” the Congress spokesperson asked.

He demanded that state government acquire lands from farmers after paying them three times more value than the market rate. Otherwise, Congress party, along with farmers, will launch a movement against the TRS government and teach it a fitting lesson, he warned.

Congress party leaders Velma Lakshma Reddy, Srinivas Reddy, Raji Reddy, Shekar, Karunakar Rao, Prasad, Satish Reddy, Lakshman, Muthyam Shankar and Vinod Reddy were among those present.
