Congress will cross 112-seat mark very easily: Dr G Parameshwar
Bengaluru: Without attaching too much significance to various exit polls that have predicted a hung assembly in the state, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, Dr G. Parameshwar on Sunday asserted that the ruling party will romp home to power by easily surpassing the 112 seat mark in the just concluded Assembly polls.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr Parameshwar said, “I am pretty confident after gathering our internal assessment data from party workers at the booth level, that the party will easily cross the half way mark.”
Training his guns on BJP leaders in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular, the KPCC president charged that the BJP’s campaign had hit its lowest ebb.
“Every leader worth his salt in the BJP stooped to low levels to launch personal attacks. They could have opted to criticise our policies, instead they invested their entire energy in tarnishing our leaders’ image including that of our party president, Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi. This could have been avoided. On the other hand, the Congress leaders did maintain decorum in the elections,” he argued, adding,
“At least, the Congress did not expect it from Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.” Heaping praise on Mr Gandhi, Dr Parameshwar profusely thanked him for criss-crossing the entire state in 25 days and covering 14,500 kms.
“Mr Gandhi addressed 18 mega rallies, 65 street corner meetings and a whopping 43 roadshows in as many as 160 constituencies in the state,” he said and added that the Congress party's victory will certainly strengthen the hands of Mr Gandhi.
