CPM to campaign against neo-liberal policies on May 15

The campaign would consist of street meetings at the district, taluk and panchayat union levels, he said.

Chennai: CPM state committee on Saturday announced a week-long state-wide campaign to mobilise people against the neo-liberal, communal policies of the BJP government at the centre from May 15 to 21.

Speaking to the media, party state secretary G. Ramakrishnan said the centre is acting against Tamil Nadu on issues of forming Cauvery Management Board, imposition of NEET, food allocation and hydrocarbon project, besides dividing people on lines of religion, language and caste.

The campaign would consist of street meetings at the district, taluk and panchayat union levels, he said. Hitting out at the state government, he said the ruling party members who are split into factions are trying to protect their wealth earned through corruption, besides trying to continue their corrupt practices.

Since the Income Tax department and CBI are acting in favour of the centre, the state government had no courage to raise its voice against the centre, he opined.
Attacking the state government for trying to reopen TASMAC shops closed due to the Supreme Court's order in residential areas and police are suppressing the protests, Ramakrishnan charged.
