CPI-CPM spat takes ugly turn

Mani had on Wednesday had launched a scathing attack against the Revenue Minister saying that the portfolio had not been gifted to anyone.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM-CPI spat over Munnar took an ugly turn on Thursday with leaders of the two parties levelling serious allegations against each other. While CPM leaders including power minister M M Mani and S Rajendran MLA lashed out at Revenue Minster E Chandrashekharan and sub collector Sreeram Venkataraman, the CPI hit back saying that the drive against encroachments would be intensified. Mani had on Wednesday had launched a scathing attack against the Revenue Minister saying that the portfolio had not been gifted to anyone.

The officials should not remain under the impression that they would be able to continue with the anti encroachment drive by targeting the common man. “Don’t blame the government if people start dealing with you directly,” he warned. S Rajendran MLA attacked the minister saying that he intervening in needless issues. He accused the Sub Collector of playing to the gallery. "He is trying to become a hero with the help of media. All this action is aimed at getting publicity,” he added. CPI Idukki leaders hit out at the CPM reminding Mani and others that the state was not being ruled by royals.
