Yaduveer to CM: People know govt's as well as Wadiyars' contribution to Mysuru

Asked if he was considering entering politics, he said he had no such plans as of now.

Mysuru: Responding to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s claim that his government had contributed the most to Mysuru after the maharajas, the scion of the Mysuru royal family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said on Tuesday that people knew how much each had done for the region.

“There is a lot of difference between the era of the erstwhile Mysuru state and now. People know the contribution of both,” he said enigmatically, speaking to reporters after participating in a programme in a private school here.

Replying to a question on the design of the new state flag, he said he was happy that the royal emblem of Ganduberunda had been used.

“That’s indeed an honour to the erstwhile Mysuru state. It is nice. I am sure the state government has considered all the suggestions of the people and its decision is final on it,” he added.

Asked if he was considering entering politics, he said he had no such plans as of now.

“The former kings of the royal family always had concern for social causes and contributed to the welfare and development of the people. So following their example, I am also participating in social activities,” he explained.

As for his newborn son, he said he was doing well with the blessings of goddess Chamundeshwari.

Speaking at the school programme, he suggested that Kannada should be taught along with English even in pre- school.
