Plea to register case against BJP leader H Raja

The unwarranted statement of Raja has created an unrest all over the state.

Chennai: An office bearer of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam has approached the Madras High Court to direct the Kandamangalam police in Villupuram district to register a case against BJP national secretary H. Raja for his alleged derogatory remarks against EVR Periyar.

Justice M.S. Ramesh before whom the petition filed by Jayaratchagan, Villupuram district co-ordinator of the DVK, came up for hearing, directed the government advocate to get instructions from the authorities concerned and posted to March 20, further hearing of case.

According to Jayaratchagan, Raja has been continuously attacking social reformer Periyar with abusive language and against Dravidian parties and its members. On March 6, he posted a derogatory statement on his Facebook against Periyar statue.

This resulted in two men vandalizing the statue of Periyar at Tirupathur in Vellore district. The unwarranted statement of Raja has created an unrest all over the state. He has instigated violence in and around the state.

Therefore, he lodged a complaint with the Kandamangalam police. But, there was no response. Hence, he filed the present petition, he added.
