Make Assembly footage public: N Uttam Kumar Reddy

BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy said the TRS had been adopting dual standards on this issue.

Hyderabad: TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday urged the government to make video footage of incidents in the Legislative Assembly to bring the facts to light about whether Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud got injured or not.

He said that Mr Goud’s eye injury was a drama scripted by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao to send main Opposition Congress out of the Assembly and the Council for the entire Budget Session to cover up TRS government’s failures on all fronts in four years.

“To hide the truth, the government did not provide the video footage to the Opposition parties or the Speaker and did not discuss the issue with the Opposition before initiating disciplinary action. If he really sustained an eye injury, how could he sit in the House till the Governor completed his speech and how could he escort the Governor from the House to accord a send off? After the Governor dispersed, the drama of eye injury was started by admitting him in the SD Eye Hospital,” Mr Reddy said.

Stating that the House is under CCTV surveillance, with cameras installed in six different angles, Mr Reddy said, “The government released footage of just one camera which had no clarity over whether Mr Goud was hit by a headphone or not. Let them release the footage of all cameras to prove this.”

The Opposition BJP and the TD also condemned the ‘dictatorial attitude’ of the government in expelling, suspending the MLAs and demanded to make a video footage for the public to know the truth.

BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy said the TRS had been adopting dual standards on this issue. “The CM has no objection over his daughter storming into the podium with placards in Parliament everyday but can’t tolerate the Opposition here going to the podium to lodge a protest,” he said.

TD MLA R. Krishnaiah said, “There is a procedure to be followed to initiate action against the members in the House. They should refer to the Ethics Committee first. No such norms were followed and the members were expelled, suspended unilaterally.”
