Brahmins call for unity to counter attacks
Chennai: Prominent members of the Brahmin community have expressed anguish at the increasing incidents of attacks on the community by socio-political outfits under the garb of propagating rationalism.
At a meeting organised by Brahmin Today, the Tamil-English bilingual monthly magazine to commemorate its 15th anniversary here at Dharmaprakash, several speakers from across the State as well as from the neighbouring Kerala, said the community should strengthen its unity and raise its voice whenever its members and the Hindu Dharma came under threat.
According to Vardan Chandar, senior trustee of Sri Ramanuja Mission Trust, “the attacks on Brahmins by Dravidian politicians is similar to Hitler’s attacks on the Jews, after branding them as enemies of the world.” Ultimately, the Jews triumphed as could be seen by their occupying important positions in the US. “Let’s consolidate so that we can score even politically,” he said and added that the Kerala Brahmin Sabha has become global with branches in several countries.
