Telangana will use Tamil Nadu model for quotas

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the government would follow the Tamil Nadu model for increasing reservations for Muslims and STs to 12 per cent as promised.

When the Opposition pointed to the abnormal delay in increasing the reservations for Muslims and STs, the CM said that this was due to the 50 per cent cap on reservations.

He said TS will follow the TN model of conducting socio-economic surveys. “We cannot give reservations to Muslims based on religion, so we have to justify their economic backwardness,” he said.
