Bengaluru: Cutting on garbage vehicles will worsen crisis, says BJP leader
BENGALURU: The Opposition leader in the BBMP council, Padmanabha Reddy, has said that reducing the number of vehicles lifting garbage will only add to the existing garbage crisis.
The BBMP was already reeling under a garbage crisis and it is yet to finalise the tenders to cover more than half of Bengaluru. Such being the case, reducing or limiting just one truck to for two wards has lead to piling up of plastic and other waste on vacant sites, road corners and drain too.
In the cleanliness index Benglauru has already fallen to 38 th place from seventh. This is an indication for the BBMP to pull up its socks and to ensure deployment of more men and machinery to clear garbage across the city, he said.
Mr. Reddy said that he has brought the condition in each of the ward, especially about the Kacharakanahalli ward, to the BBMP commissioner through a letter.
He said the plastic waste should be cleared on regular basis. Else, it is reaching the drains, resulting in clogging and flooding during rains. Adequate trucks and tipper auto rickshaws must be deployed in each of the ward, he suggested.
