TN needs friendly govt to carry forward the good work of Modi: C P Radhakrishnan
Chennai: BJP senior and former State president C. P. Radhakrishnan has alleged that the Vaiko-led People’s Welfare Front (PWF) and the Congress could hardly help the state to prosper as they lacked any agenda for development.
More than the Dravidian parties, Tamil Nadu needs a friendly government to carry forward the good work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this is where the BJP could play a crucial role.
“Vaiko is a spent political force, VCK with little influence on people and the left parties which oppose the BJP government for opposing sake, would hardly make an impact in this Assembly election,” he said in an interview. Here are the excerpts:
Q The Vaiko-led PWF has projected itself as a serious contender to end the Dravidian rule and emerge as alternative. The BJP said it would be a viable alternative to the Dravidian majors when it formed the NDA in the state in 2014.
Vaiko is a spent political force. His claim of providing an alternative has no place in Tamil Nadu. VCK with little influence on the people and the left parties which oppose the BJP government at the Centre for opposing sake, would hardly make an impact in this Assembly election. They don’t share a common view even on the Eelam issue. How can they work together for the betterment of Tamil Nadu? They have no agenda for development. Their only agenda is to oppose everything.
Q Is the BJP in dire need of ally to fight the election?
Allies could strengthen the NDA. We are confident of emerging as a strong party and have begun our poll work accordingly.
Q How far could an alliance with midget parties help the BJP in this poll?
The presence of smaller parties would send a clear signal to various communities that the BJP is keen on working for their welfare too. Even the Dalits and Muslims feel comfortable in Modiji’s rule. Since the two-year of the BJP rule at the Centre, the Dalits and Muslims have not been treated harshly. They are much safer in the hands of the BJP.
Q What is your assessment of your party’s performance at the hustings?
A: We will emerge as a formidable party. Already the BJP enjoys the people’s support and is emerging as a greater force in the state. The people of Tamil Nadu expect a cooperative government at the state and want the industry and agriculture to prosper.
This can be speeded up only by the BJP. Tamil Nadu needs a friendly
government that could carry forward the good work of Modiji. This is where the BJP believes it could play a crucial role.
