'Why not Andhra Pradesh' is new slogan of Congress in AP

Vijayawada: The state Congress’ political affairs committee and the coordination panel have decided to work hard and bring the party to power in AP under a 'Why not Andhra Pradesh' slogan.

The meetings of these panels were held at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Wednesday. The main agenda was a discussion on 'Why not Andhra Pradesh' -- as the Congress has already grabbed power in the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Telangana. Senior Congress leaders discussed issues in detail at this meeting.

APCC President Gidugu Rudra Raju presided over the two meetings in which AICC secretaries CD Meyyappan and Christopher Tilak, CWC members Raghuveera Reddy and Pallam Raju, and senior leaders K Raju, K Bapi Raju and JD Seelam attended.

Rudra Raju said the Congress was aiming to rule AP. Achieving Special Category Status, fulfillment of bifurcation act promises and grant of special packages to the backward districts are the main issues that would be highlighted by the party, it was decided at the meeting.

“We are planning to conduct three key meetings in the state at Amaravati (Vijayawada), Rayalaseema, and Visakhapatnam. We would invite AICC chief Mallikharjuna Kharge and senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi will attend the Vijayawada meeting, Rahul the Visakhapatnam, and Kharge, the Rayalaseema meeting,” Rudra Raju said.
