He filed his papers in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao, with the backing of the MIM, while the BJP MLAs gave the nomination process a miss on the day.

Among others present for the nomination process were MIM MLA and pro tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers Konda Surekha and Seethakka.

Extending his support to the Congress candidate, BRS working president Rama Rao also signed the papers.

In the Assembly session on Thursday, pro tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi is likely to announce the unanimous election of Prasad Kumar as the Speaker.

After the nomination process, Congress leaders, including Revanth Reddy, Mallu Bhatti, and other ministers, visited the Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises and paid their respects. The Chief Minister also visited Dr B.R. Ambedkar's statue.

Later, Revanth Reddy and his entourage took stock of the Assembly premises and Council, directing officials to modernise both. The Chief Minister, issuing directions to the Assembly secretary, called for a single-premises makeover with landscaping and parking facilities.
