Bhubaneswar: Five lakh more get old-age sop

Announcing this, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that not a single eligible beneficiary would be left out of the scheme.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday extended the old-age pension to an additional five lakh beneficiaries in the state under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.

The new beneficiaries would be able to avail the benefits under the scheme from December 15.

With this, 48 lakh persons in the state would get old-age pension of Rs 300 and Rs 500 per month.

While people aged between 60 and 80 years will get Rs 300, beneficiaries over 80 years will receive Rs 500 every month under the scheme.

Announcing this, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that not a single eligible beneficiary would be left out of the scheme.

Mr Patnaik also declared that 40,000 artistes will get assistance of Rs 1,200 per month under the Mukhya Mantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana with effective from December 15.

The CM directed the district collectors to disburse the assistance to beneficiaries under both the schemes from December 15 to 20 by organising special camps.
