TRS leaders target PM over coal block ‘double game’

Hyderabad: TRS leaders targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly “misguiding people” on the Singareni Collieries sell-off issue, claiming that the BJP plays a “double game” by making different statements on privatisation and selling coal blocks through auction.

Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman Boinpalli Vinod Kumar said that Union minister Prahlad Joshi stated in Parliament on December 13, 2021, that the Central government was planning to auction coal blocks in Telangana.

Further, the Centre also rejected the request of Singareni Collieries Company Limited to allocate the blocks to its management, Kumar said.

MLC K. Kavitha alleged that the Prime Minister “came to Telangana with empty hands” and said that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would bring revolution to the country.

Addressing the Atmeeya meeting of TRS leaders and cadre at Raikal of Jagtial, Kavitha said that development was only possible with the pink flag as the TRS plays a key role in providing funds for developmental works.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi started avoiding Telangana people by making false and unfair statements. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao questioned the Prime Minister on developmental works in Telangana and funds provided for the state. There was no response from the Prime Minister, who neglected Telangana and its people. People must think about the BJP's vote bank politics in Telangana,” Kavitha said.

Minister Koppula Eswar found fault with union minister G. Kishan Reddy for not making a statement on funds for Telangana. The BJP politicised purchase of paddy from Telangana, Eswar said, accusing the BJP and its leaders of trying to create disturbances in the state.

“The BJP leaders deliberately started mudslinging on ruling TRS party by making false and fake statements by confusing the people to protect their vote bank in the state,” the minister said.
