Jana Sena leader held, released for comments against Roja

Jana Sena activists celebrated the release of their leader

TIRUPATI: Nagari police arrested the Jana Sena’s Tirupati Assembly constituency in-charge Kiran Royal late on Friday night for allegedly making abusive remarks against state tourism minister R.K. Roja.

The Chittoor Court, however, granted him bail on Saturday. It directed police to instead serve on Kiran Royal a notice under section 41 of CrPC (to appear before police) in the case.

Jana Sena activists celebrated the release of their leader. Speaking to reporters later, Kiran Royal accused the ruling party and minister Roja of misusing police to intimidate opposition leaders.

He said 11 policemen dressed in civilian clothes “stormed” his house and took him away forcibly. “None of them told me they were cops. I assumed I was being kidnapped and would be killed," the Jana Sena leader charged.

He said if anything happens to him, it will be minister Roja's responsibility.

Jana Sena district in-charge Pasupuleti Hari Prasad said their party chief Pawan Kalyan had remained in constant touch with them and offered all necessary support for Kiran Royal's release.
