Ramachandraiah set to join YSR Congress today

Mr Ramachandraiah started his political career with the TD and later joined Praja Rajyam when actor Chiranjeevi launched the party.

Vijayawada: Former minister C. Ramachandraiah, who quit the Congress recently protesting the TD and Congress pact, will be joining YSRC in the presence of party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

Mr Ramachandraiah started his political career with the TD and later joined Praja Rajyam when actor Chiranjeevi launched the party. After Praja Rajyam got merged into the Congress, he joined the national party and also served as the endowments minister in former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Cabinet.

Earlier, former minister and senior Congress leader Vatti Vasanth Kumar also resigned from the Congress for an alliance with the TD. A section of Congress leaders are lamenting that they relentlessly fought against the TD’s illegalities and corruption for the past three years but now they will be forced to bear the TD and its anomalies which is not acceptable.

Mr Ramachandraiah alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandra-babu Naidu is the most undemocratic person who killed the democratic spirit. Hence, he cannot digest the alliance of the Congress with the TD.

He lamented that the Congress high command did not ask the opinions of state leaders. He also objected the re-entry of former chief minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy into the Congress who according to him, deceived the party.

Mr Ramachandraiah will be joining YSRC during Jagan’s ongoing padayatra. Mr Ramachandraiah, who belongs to Rajampet constituency, is a chartered accountant by profession. He entered in politics in 1978 as a ward councillor in Kadapa Municipality and later got elected as an MLA on TD ticket from Kadapa Assembly segment.
