TD complains to CEO against bogus votes

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam AP unit president Kinjerapu Atchannaidu, accompanied by other TD leaders, lodged a complaint on Thursday with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) at the state secretariat here.

In the complaint, Telugu Desam alleged that YSR Congress is resorting to various irregularities, including registration of bogus votes, in an attempt to win the upcoming assembly elections. The TD leaders submitted details of how bogus votes are being registered. They appealed to the CEO that he delete such votes and ensure free and fair elections in the state.

Atchannaidu pointed out that as per poll panel norms, a person cannot submit more than five applications. However, he said there are 57 persons who have submitted more than 1,000 applications each, while 2,500 persons have given 100 applications each.

The TD state president said the CEO responded positively and promised to initiate action. TD politburo members Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and Varla Ramaiah and MLC Parchuri Ashok Babu were among those who met the CEO.
