BJP's Jan Ashirwad Yatra Touched 60 Lakh People in First Week

Bhopal: A review of the mega mass contact programme being undertaken by BJP in form of ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra, launched on September three in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the year-end assembly polls, has indicated that the party has so far reached out to around 60 lakh people in the state.

State urban development minister Bhupendra Singh who is the coordinator of the five ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatras’ launched over four days in different parts of the state from September three, on Tuesday claimed that the mass contact campaign has ‘proved to be very successful’, considering the enthusiastic response it has evoked from the people.

“Union minister Bhupendra Yadav who is election in-charge of the party for Madhya Pradesh has reviewed the progress of the Jan Ashirwad Yatra so far. The review has indicated that the party has been able to connect with around 60 lakh people by September 11”, Mr Singh said here on Tuesday.

Describing the Jan Ashirwad Yatra as the biggest ever mass contact programme undertaken by any political party in the country, he said that besides the party leaders and workers of the state, Central ministers and leaders from other states have also joined the yatra.

Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who is also the convener of state election committee of the party, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union minister Prallhad Patel, state BJP president V D Sharma and former state party president Prabhat Jha have been steering the yatras simultaneous in different parts of the state.

The party has been conducting membership drives and also taking initiatives to include those who have been left out of various welfare schemes being undertaken by the state government as well as the Centre during the yatra, Mr Singh said.

“We have set a target to connect to all the electorates in the state by September 24 when the yatra comes to an end”, Mr Singh said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a ‘Mahakumbh of Karyakartas’ (mega party workers’ convention) here on September 25 on the occasion of the closure of the mass contact programme of the party.
