74 BC Communities Seek 50% Quota

HYDERABAD: A total of 74 BC communities came together on Wednesday to call upon the government to introduce a Bill in Parliament that would provide 50 per cent reservations for BC (Backward Class) individuals across the country.

The BC communities celebrated the birthday of Rajya Sabha MP and BC National Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah at BC Bhavan in the city on Wednesday.

Leaders from the BC community commended R. Krishnaiah for leading 12,000 movements and public meetings over the past five years. They highlighted that as a result of these efforts, approximately 6 lakh students now have the opportunity to receive a high-quality education in Gurukul schools, benefiting from higher education standards while residing in 6,000 hostels.

Further, BC leaders pointed out that due to the five-day hunger strike organised by the BC Welfare Association, approximately 30 lakh students in the two Telugu states are pursuing engineering, post-graduate, and undergraduate degrees with the support of fee reimbursements.
