Uttam Kumar Reddy demands laptops for poor

TPCC chief wants CM to upgrade state hospitals and restore crop insurance

TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday demanded that the Union and state governments must provide free laptops to all poor students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families across Telangana State.

He was addressing District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meetings in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts, held to review all government-funded schemes in these two districts under Nalgonda Parliamentary constituency.

He said that the Covid-19 pandemic has badly hit the education system across the world and it was difficult to impart education through conventional means.

In view of the pandemic, and also to meet future exigencies, he demanded that the two governments should work out a strategy so that they could equip poor students with a free laptop, along with free internet connectivity, considering that online classes seem to be the only way out in the prevailing circumstances.
He said, “They must focus on creating appropriate infrastructure for poor students to make a success of online education”

He reiterated that the state government must utilise the entire Mineral Funds to upgrade government hospitals in the state.

He said there was a lack of coordination between the Centre and the state government, which has resulted in farmers not getting insurance facilities for their crops. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the Chief Minister must take immediate measures to ensure that crop insurance facilities are restored.
