BJP: Our MLAs will not defect
Bengaluru :The state BJP on Wednesday not only dismissed Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy's claim that five BJP MLAs were in touch with him and had offered to support the JD(S)- Congress coalition government in the state, but also claimed that it was being approached by Congress MLAs, and dozens of them planned to resign soon.
Alleging that both Mr Kumaraswamy and KPCC president, Dinesh Gundu Rao were trying to merely create confusion in its ranks by “desperately spreading such rumours,” the saffron party’s leaders instead claimed that Congress MLAs were voluntarily approaching the BJP to extend their support to it and it had sufficient numbers to form the government. “Within ten days, dozens of Congress MLAs are likely to submit their resignations,” claimed sources close to Mr Yeddyurappa, alleging that Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao were merely trying to divert attention from “the revolt of Congress MLAs against the coalition government.”
“The Chief Minister and the Congress leadership has failed to gauge the mood of the Congress MLAs and are lying just to divert attention, ” they alleged.
While the Congress has claimed that BJP MLAs, Gooli Hatti Shekar and Poornima Srinivasa are in touch with it and the JD(S), BJP leaders say the two MLAs have met Mr Yeddyurappa -and categorically denied it.
“This is a strategy by both the Congress and JD(S) to create confusion in the BJP. They are desperately trying to keep their MLAs together by spreading such rumours about BJP MLAs,” they contended.
