Will move no-confidence motion in assembly: DMK
Chennai: Jubilant over AIADMK (Amma) deputy secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran’s vow to bring down the state government, DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said his party would move a no-confidence motion whenever the Assembly is convened.
On the same day that Dhinakaran challenged the ruling faction of the AIADMK to face elections, Stalin asserted that his party would not capture power through the back door, making it clear that he too wanted an early Assembly election.
Stalin, who met Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on September 10 and gave an ultimatum of seven days, said the party had already moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Governor to convene the Assembly. Even though only two days had gone after Stalin’s meeting with the Governor, the party does not see any reason to wait for the ultimatum to expire, since Dhinakaran had made it clear that he would go all out to bring down the government.
DMK leaders feel that there is no scope for any negotiated settlement between Dhinakaran faction and that of the Chief Minister after the latter’s move to oust AIADMK general secretary Sasikala from her post.
When asked about Dhinakaran’s remarks that the next Assembly elections would be a contest between the DMK and his faction of the AIADMK, Stalin said Dhinakaran could have made the remarks for publicity.
