People will punish ruling party for betrayal: S Ramadoss

The government had sacrificed the students for escaping from the corruption charges which are hanging like a sword over them, he alleged.

Chennai: PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Saturday alleged that the state government had totally failed in obtaining exemption for Tamil Nadu from Neet and asserted that the AIADMK (Amma) government would be punished for its acts of betrayal.

Lashing out at the Edappadi K. Palaniswami government, he said it had mortgaged the interests and rights of the state with the Centre and got licence only for corruption.

The government had sacrificed the students for escaping from the corruption charges which are hanging like a sword over them, he alleged.

The ruling party had created a false hope that exemption from Neet would be obtained, but had stabbed them on their back, Ramadoss said and added that 80 to 90 per cent of the medical seats in Tamil Nadu would go the students who studied under CBSE.

The state government had an opportunity to insist on Neet exemption and Cauvery Management Board in the Presidential elections. The state government should have convened an all party meeting and announced Tamil Nadu MPs and MLAs would support the BJP’s Presidential nominee only if the centre agreed to Neet exemption and formation of CMB.

Such an announcement would have changed the course of Presidential elections as it would have made an impact on the decision of parties in other states, Ramadoss said. The state government had failed to utilise such an opportunity, Ramadoss added.
