BENGALURU: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Saturday lambasted the Congress party for banking on dynastic politics to expand its support base.
Addressing party intellectuals here, Mr. Shah said that unlike the Congress, the BJP was a party with its workers constituting the backbone.
A worker of the BJP could ascend to occupy top posts of the President or Prime Minister. In contrast, only those belonging to the Nehru-Gandhi clan could head the Congress, he added.
Mr. Shah asserted that state unit president B. S. Yeddyurappa would be the party’s chief ministerial candidate in next year’s polls to the Legislative Assembly.
The BJP president apologized for his inability to speak in Kannada while seeking the support of intellectuals and spoke of the need to dethrone the Congress government in the state.
