BJP acts safe, moves its MLAs to a resort

The Opposition BJP moved its MLAs to a resort on Friday.

Bengaluru: To prevent poaching by the JD(S) and Congress before the trust vote in the Assembly, the Opposition BJP moved its MLAs to a resort on Friday.

At a BJP Legislature Party meeting, Mr Yeddyurappa reportedly told party MLAs that the party must defeat the trust vote and not allow the CM to prolong the discussion on the conifdence motionn. HIs intention was to buy more time to save his government and also create confusion among rebel MLAs now in Mumbai and so the BJP should defeat the finance bill as well as the trust vote, the former CM stressed.

“At the same time, party MLAs should be together till the completion of the trust vote proceedings in the Assembly", Mr. Yeddyurappa said in the Legislature party meeting.

Suspecting a possible reverse Operation Lotus by the CM and minister D.K. Shivakumar, the BJP moved all 105 MLAs to Ramada resort near Yelahanka. A few senior leaders have also checked into Sai Leela Hotel. Yelahanka BJP MLA, S.R. Vishwanath played host with the MLAs taken in two buses to the resort.

Speaking to this newspaper, BJP leader, C.T.Ravi said, "The CM’s decision to seek a trust vote, is not surprising. If he does not do this, the BJP may move a no confidence motion or the Governor may direct the CM to prove his majority in the House.”
