Shah's Public Meeting to Kick Off Busy Days for Telangana BJP

Hyderabad: Union minister Amit Shah’s public meeting in Khammam on June 15 will not only kick off the party’s Assembly election campaign in Telangana state, but will also set in motion a week-long flurry of public meetings to be addressed by senior state party leaders in all the 119 Assembly constituencies in the state.

Shah is expected to arrive in the city late on Wednesday evening instead of on Thursday morning as originally scheduled around 11 am. As per the original plan, he was to go to a private hotel near RGI airport, and then go to a nearby convention centre for a meeting with BJP leaders. Its only his arrival that has been brought forward and the rest of his schedule on Thursday will include a breakfast meeting with party leaders following which he will fly to Bhadrachalam, visit the Sri Seetharamaswamy Temple, and then on to Khammam. Shah is scheduled to fly to Vijayawada after the public meeting before leaving for Gujarat. Shah will meet RRR director S.S. Rajamouli in Hyderabad.

With party leaders working hard to make Shah’s meeting a success, and expecting a strong boost to all its cadre, the state BJP has made plans to follow the Thursday public meeting with smaller public meetings in all the 119 Assembly constituencies. The plan is to have around 5,000 people for each meeting which will be addressed by senior state party leaders.

Though these Assembly constituency wise meetings were originally planned as part of Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan, there appears to be a new sense of urgency in the party which decided that all these meetings will be held in one week. “In a manner of speaking, we want saturated coverage by our party across the state, and from July, we will truly enter the election mode,” another party leader said.
