Youth Congress sends SOS to Rahul Gandhi

Revive Congress demanded that KPCC office bearers and DCC presidents should be below the age of 50.

Thiruvananthapuram: Revive Congress, led by former Youth Congress leaders, has sought the intervention of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi to terminate the revamped committee and dispense with the system of 'group sharing'. They demanded that KPCC office bearers and DCC presidents should be below the age of 50.

The memorandum was signed by former national secretary Anil Thomas, former Pradesh general secretary R. V. Rajesh, former elected Pradesh general secretary D. V. Vinod Krishna, former national coordinator of A.A.K.S. Shaji J. Kodenkandath, former national general secretary Mathew Kuzhalnadan and former Pradesh general secretary Dr Ajis Ben Mathews.

These former youth leaders have urged that the organisational subcommittees formed for reconstitution based on group representation should be dissolved immediately. They have also demanded that PCC should not be made into a dumping yard for the failed candidates.

“Group quota system should be ended. AICC should maintain its status quo of appointing PCC office bearers and DCC presidents. The curse of the Congress party in Kerala is group quota and dividing of party positions on group equations,” said a member of ‘Revive Congress’.

The state Youth Congress office bearers appointed at the time of former national presidents Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ashok Tanwar and Rajeev Satav are yet to get proper accommodation in the PCC. Meanwhile, a top AICC leader told DC that Rahul Gandhi has taken note of the demands they raised. It is reliably learnt that once he takes over as president, a complete restructuring would be taken up at the KPCC as well as lower levels.
