Telangana Congress leaders see hope for party's revival after Karnataka victory

Hyderabad: Former TPCC president V. Hanumantha Rao said the victory of the party in Karnataka was a mandate for party leader Rahul Gandhi. He was speaking to the media even before the Congress victory was declared.

Hanumantha Rao said: “Modi has been rejected. He has failed to keep his promises of two crore jobs, bringing back black money and giving '15 lakh to every person,” adding, “God did not help as the BJP tried to seek votes in the name of Lord Hanuman. He should stop his Mann ki Baat.”

Hanumantha Rao, a former MP, said the victory would enthuse the Congress in Telangana. “We have been suffering for eight years now. The government has failed to give three acres land to Dalits and job to every family,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi’s padyatra had brought enthusiasm to Congress workers. The party would provide reservation according to population share. The BJP attempt to remove Muslim reservations in Karnataka had backfired, he stated.

In a statement, TPCC senior vice-president G. Niranjan said the Karnataka results were a slap on the face for the policies adopted by the BJP. The results had increased the responsibility of Telangana Congress leaders. “This will instill confidence and enthusiasm in Congress workers of Telangana. People are looking to unseating the BRS and are looking towards the Congress,” he said.

Mallu Ravi, another senior TPCC vice-president, said the people had won in Karnataka. “They have rejected polarisation on the basis of religion, caste and region,” Mallu Ravi. “The credit for the victory goes to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. This is the beginning of fall of BJP governments in the country. The Congress will come to power in Telangana by emulating Karnataka,” he said.
