Mistakes made in Karnataka, but no impact on BJP prospects in TS: Kishan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said any talk about how the Congress party’s victory in Karnataka will help the BRS party in Telangana in the Assembly elections in the state later this year, does not hold merit and will not have any impact on the BJP’s prospects in Telangana.

Making it clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party accepts the verdict of the people in Karnataka, Kishan Reddy said “during the campaign, we saw a lot of affection from the people for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But local issues and opposition helped the Congress. In the next Parliament elections, the BJP will win 80% of seats from Karnataka.”

The BJP has been pressing hard to emerge as the sole alternative to the BRS party in Telangana with the party’s national leadership making it clear that it sees Telangana as one of the gateways to the southern states where it wants to gain a strong, and a permanent foothold. Though the party leaders appeared to be nonplussed over what happened in Karnataka,

Speaking with reporters, Kishan Reddy said the BJP lost the Karnataka elections on account of “some mistakes made there.” He, however, added that the Karnataka poll outcome will have no bearing on what will happen in Telangana as “for every one mistake of our party in Karnataka, the BRS party has committed a 100 in Telangana. The BJP will win in the Telangana Assembly elections.”
