Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan submitted a petition to Central Election Commission and Chief Electoral Officer on Thursday against the UDF candidate of Pattambi, C.P. Mohammed, who allegedly tried to influence a woman by offering her cash.
CPM politburo member Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan had posted a video of Mr. Muhammed handing over cash to a woman of 24 booth of Valliyoor Panchayat in his Facebook page. Mr. Balakrishnan has demanded the EC that Mr. Mohammed should be disqualified since exchange of money was a clear violation of model code of conduct.
Mr. Mohammed refuted the charges. “There is a cancer patient in the household and I had taken initiatives to help them with a financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. I was comforting her by holding her hands,” he said.
