KCR to lead TRS men in coolie work for party

He said the party's membership drive has received huge response with the numbers crossing 75 lakh now against the 51.5 lakh in 2014.

Hyderabad: TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers, party legislators and all other leaders and activists will work as ‘coolies’ to mobilise funds for the party’s plenary meeting scheduled for April 21 in Hyderabad and the public meeting to be held in Warangal on April 27.

Mr Rao announced a programme “Gulaabi coolie dinaalu” for the purpose and asked all party leaders and activists to work as coolies for two days between April 14 and 20.

“They can choose any work in their respective areas starting from agriculture works to other manual labour work. I too will do manual labour for two days at a place of my choice. Everyone should earn money by working to meet travel and food expenses. This has been the tradition of the TRS since its inception and will be continued whether we are in power or not,” Mr Rao said.

He said the party’s membership drive has received huge response with the numbers crossing 75 lakh now against the 51.5 lakh in 2014.

“Today, TRS is one of the few big parties in the country having a membership of over 75 lakh. We are getting requests to extend the membership drive,” the party chief said.
