Bengaluru: The JD (S), which has steadfastly projected a pro-farmer image, will don a new avatar by engaging IT professionals employed in Bengaluru in a day-long interactive session here on April 15 on their involvement in running the government.
The trigger: BJP's successful use in leveraging the reach of IT tools and social media networks to target voters during the recent elections in UP.
State JD (S) president H.D. Kumaraswamy said during the 12 hour session, IT professionals would be given an opportunity to make suggestions on development of the state and Bengaluru city. "There has been a demand from scores of IT professions handling Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp for an opportunity to speak up on what they want for the city. This interaction has already got 6,000 registrations and many more are expected to log in during the next two days".
The former CM said while he would make a brief presentation on his party's vision for the state, and listen to professionals to know their suggestions about problems in development of Bengaluru and creation of job opportunities. Providing them a forum would help gauge how an elected government must function as youth are future citizens of nation, he said.
"I came to know that as many as 10,000 WhatsApp groups were created prior to Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh at the instance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah as part of a strategy to reach out to the masses. Experiments were conducted in the past by arranging talks by senior political leaders in colleges and interactive sessions with youngsters. On April 15, however, the event would be different and first of its kind in the country.
He said to mark the 75th anniversary of independence, Mr Modi has announces plans for 'new India'. Besides, the PM had sought the support of all countrymen to back the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls to achieve this milestone. With Assembly elections scheduled to be held in Karnataka next March/April, his party intends to come out with a road map for overall development of Karnataka over the next five years beginning 2018. "I am seeking the support of people of Karnataka to elect my party to make the state a global leader. I want to set right mistakes committed by Congress and the BJP, and come out with a new set of plans in consultation with youth," he added. He said subsequently, similar programmes would be held in all 30 districts to reach out to more youth.
