Komatireddy objects to Bhatti yatra touching Bhongir LS constituency

HYDERABAD: Even as CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is ready for his 1,365-km walkathon, Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has raised objections to the yatra as it passes through his Bhongir Parliament constituency.

Venkat Reddy who has avoided taking part in any of the yatras that are part of ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyan’, has now prompted Bhatti Vikramarka and AICC leaders to consider a revised route for the three-month-long yatra.

According to party sources, when the route was being finalised, Venkat Reddy was not taken into confidence or informed about it.

“After the yatra’s details were made public, Bhatti sought Venkat Reddy’s support for his yatra. To his surprise, the response has disturbed the CLP leader. The Bhongir MP, citing that Bhatti did not consult him before finalising the route, raised objections. Since he is protective of his constituency, he is not ready to cooperate,” informed a party leader.

A review meeting was held here on Sunday with campaign’s coordinators and heads of frontal organisations in the presence of AICC secretaries, Nadeem Javed and Rohit Chaudhary. Bhongir, Jangaon and Alair Assembly constituencies come under the ‘general’ category.

“There is a possibility of the yatra touching the border of Bhongir parliamentary constituency,” added the leader.

Meanwhile, AICC programme implementation committee chairman, who with much fanfare started his Telangana poru yatra in Bhainsa about a week back, merged it with Bhatti’s yatra. “Former MLC, K. Premsagar Rao has shouldered the responsibility of making a success of the yatra in erstwhile Adilabad district,” he said.
