Sabita Reddy, son quit Congress

Mr Revanth Reddy met Ms Indra Reddy immediately after this meeting to convince her not to leave the Congress.

Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Congress has lost one more MLA. Despite the efforts by TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress high command, former minister and MLA Sabiha Indra Reddy and her son Karthik Reddy have decided to resign from the party. They are expected to meet TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday before announcing their resignation from the Congress party.

On Sunday, they held discussions with TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and TRS MP K. Kavitha in the presence of Majlis-e-Ittihadul Muslimeen chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

Mr Revanth Reddy met Ms Indra Reddy immediately after this meeting to convince her not to leave the Congress. He also brought the matter to the notice of Congress’ central leadership.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi had responded by fixing an appointment to meet Ms Reddy in Delhi. Confirming the call from the high command, Ms Indra Reddy said on Tuesday morning that she has not decided whether she would meet the Congress President.

Later, Ms Indra Reddy and Mr Karthik held a meeting with their followers, and according to their opinion both have decided to resign from the Congress.

Earlier, Ms Indra Reddy alleged that injustice was done to her family in allotting party tickets. She said the TPCC did not react on the comments of Chevella MP Konda Visweswar Reddy against her. She also said that her son Kartik was not given importance during the recent public meeting by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Ms Indra Reddy said three Assembly tickets were given to TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy's family in the recent Telangana state Assembly elections. Rajendar Nagar assembly ticket was given to her son Karthik Reddy but it was withdrawn in the last minute, she said.

She said since last one year they were requesting for one Lok Sabha ticket but the Congress leadership had been suppressing their family.
