Puducherry CM violating model code, says AIADMK MLA Vaiyapuri Manikandan

The district administration also removed the banners and posters put up at public places following the announcement of the election.

Puducherry: With the model code of conduct coming into effect, official vehicles allotted to the Chief Minister, ministers and legislators were surrendered.

District election officer and district magistrate T. Arun imposed ban on the use of loud speakers between 10 am and 6 pm and cautioned stringent action against violators. He had also issued orders prohibiting possession and carrying of fire arms of any kind, spears, swords, brickbats, lathis, stones and other lethal weapons by people. The station house officers have been asked to impound licensed arms as the time for voluntary surrender of such weapons was over by Monday.

On the other hand AIADMK had written a letter to Election commission alleging that the

Chief Mminister is extending freebies to the public in form of pre-dated cheques from the Chief Ministers relief fund which is violation of model code of conduct.

AIADMK MLA Vaiyapuri Manikandan in the letter accused that the bank authorities were asked not to bounce the cheque even if there is no fund available in the account.

The MLA alleged that the Chief Minister was misappropriating the funds and sought action for violating the model code of conduct.
