Country is safe, secure under Narendra Modi, says Arun Jaitley
New Delhi: Continuing his attack on the Congress, senior BJP leader and Union minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday asked whether the nation would vote for an “over-ground ally of Left wing extremism,” who have “weakened the battle against terror” for the vote bank politics or Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has evolved India’s internal security doctrine.
On a day the opposition party accused the PM for “cynically exploiting” the national security issue to divert attention from his “colossal failures” and “persistent falsehoods,” Mr Jaitley cited BJP’s “strong position against the Left wing extremism” and the Indian Air Force targetting terror camps in Pakistan post-Pulwama terror attack to assert that the country is “safe & secure” under Mr Modi-led NDA government.
In a blog titled ‘Prime Minister Modi’s Evolving National Security Doctrine,’ Mr Jaitley also cited how anti-terror law TADA was repealed by the Narsimha Rao led Congress government after it was dubbed as “anti-minority” post-1993 Mumbai bomb blasts and the country was left without an anti-terror law.
Mr Jaitley said later the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government legislated POTA, which the Congress promised to repeal.
Accusing the Congress of failing to distinguish between an “anti-terrorism and an anti-minority law,” Mr Jaitley said sin-ce then the Congress started going soft on terror.
The Union minister said the Congress repeatedly rubbished the 2016 surgical strikes and contends that they have either taken place in the past also or alternatively they never took place under Mr Modi.
