Andhra Pradesh top cop reviews panchayat poll arrangements

TIRUPATI: Probably for the first time in the state, drone camera surveillance was set up to monitor polling activity during the second phase of panchayat elections in around 14 mandals in Prakasam district.

Prakasam SP Siddarth Kaushal, who launched the initiative, inspected security arrangements with the help of drone cameras in Addanki and Ballikurava areas on Saturday. He ensured that the drone cameras were handled by a technical team.

Meanwhile, in view of the second phase of polls in 14 mandals, comprising 213 panchayats with 467 polling locations (Hyper Sensitive-126, Sensitive-179, Normal-162), he appointed an ASP-level officer as special officer for each zone by dividing 14 mandals into three zones.

He visited Addanki circle office and interacted with police officers for first-hand information about the situation and directed them to work towards peaceful elections. He went around some villages on a two-wheeler and took stock of the poll procedures.

During his visit to the polling station at Dharmavaram village in Addanki mandal, he urged on-duty para-police personnel, anganwadi and other election personnel to remain vigilant and strictly enforce the election code. He asked them to inform the concerned police officers whenever they receive information about any breach of security or disturbance to peace.

Additional SP (Admin) B. Ravichandra, Kandukuru DSP K. Srinivasa Rao, SB-I Inspector V. Surya Narayana, Addanki CI Anjaneya Reddy were among those present.
