Hyderabad: Crucial days are ahead for Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders and MLAs. Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has charted out his priority lists in the coming days and is prioritising the list while staying at his farm house.

The expansion of the Cabinet occupies top priority in the list. In the last week of this month, the Assembly Budget session will be held. By that time the Cabinet expansion is necessary as the ministers have to represent both houses of Assembly and Legislative council.

According to top sources, the much-awaited Cabinet expansion is likely to take place this Friday (February 15).

The General Administration department has been sounded out asking it to be ready for arrangements.

After the Cabinet expansion, the second priority will be selecting the MLC candidates. The Central Election Commission is likely to issue the election notification on February 14 to conduct elections in two Teacher constituencies.

Before March 2019, a total of 16 MLC vacancies have to be filed. Of these 16 posts, seven are from the MLAs’s quota, five from local bodies, two from Teachers constituencies, one each from the Graduates constituency and Governor quota have to be filled.

Out of the 16, TRS is likely to get 15 and Congress will get one MLC post from the MLAs quota according to the present strength of legislators. The CM has to announce two MLC candidates from the Teacher constituencies immediately.

After that Mr Rao will concentrate on the Assembly Budget session. The vote-on-account session is likely to be held in the last week of this month. After completion of the brief Budget session, the CM will concentrate fully on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha election schedule is likely to be announced in the first week of March by the Central Election Commission. Lok Sabha elections will be held between April- May 2019.

The CM is serious about winning 16 out of the total 17 Lok Sabha seats in the elections. The Lok Sabha elections are very crucial for the CM because it will determine his future in national politics.

The selection of candidates is dependent on bringing about a coordination between the MLAs and MP candidates.
