TD plea to EC on bogus votes in MLC polls

Vijayawada: Leader of opposition in AP Legislative Council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Sunday complained to Election Commission of India that ruling YSRCP is indulging in large-scale irregularities in elections scheduled to be held for graduates constituencies.

The former finance minister said a perusal of draft voters’ list reveals that there are over 50,000 votes that are bogus.

He pointed out that targets have been set for ministers and MLAs. Thus, even ineligible persons have been enrolled as voters. He alleged that those who have studied only up to 10th or intermediate too have been enrolled as voters by the ruling party.

Ramakrishnudu said nearly 10,000 ineligible voters have been enrolled in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam graduates constituency, while a much larger number of them are in Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool, Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor segment area.
