Fireworks at Congress meet, senior leaders stage ‘walkout’

The meeting was called by the KPCC to discuss the strategy and candidates for the bypoll seats.

Bengaluru: Amid unconfirmed reports that some senior leaders had staged a ‘walkout’ in the middle of the Congress meeting called to discuss the upcoming bypolls, state leaders, including CLP leader Siddaramaiah, former Union minister K.H. Muniyappa and KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao, tried their best to play this asserting that the senior leaders had to attend to personal work.

The meeting was called by the KPCC to discuss the strategy and candidates for the bypoll seats.

Present at the meeting were Siddaramaiah, Dinesh Gundurao, B.K. Hariprasad, K. Rahman Khan, Eshwar Khandre, K.H. Muniyappa, C. Motamma and Rani Satish

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, KPCC working president, Eshwar Khandre said, “We are ready to fight the bypolls. We have shortlisted the names of probable candidates of the Congress. Those who defected from the Congress will be taught a lesson this time.”

The Congress leaders also took potshots at the BJP claiming they had not fulfilled what they had promised. Mr Gundurao charged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state was “directionless” and “aimless” lacked vision and had done nothing for the state. “The previous coalition government was far superior to the BJP government,” he maintained.
