Poll campaign borrows from celluloid
Hyderabad: Photographs of politicians are being morphed into action sequences of Telugu movies and circulated on social media platforms by their supporters. Party activists are competing against each other in creating new videos.
TRS supporters have picked up an action sequence from hit Tamil film Singhamm starring Surya. The fans have morphed the face of Surya with that of party president and TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The pictures of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana TD president L. Ramana and Telangana Jana Samithi chief Prof. M. Kodandaram have been morphed on those of the villains. Naturally enough, Mr Rao thrashes his political rivals.
Congress fans countered them by creating a video and adding dialogues to the action sequences. Congress fans picked up a scene from the Nandamuri Kalyan Ram starrer Patas. The lead actor's picture has been morphed with that of Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy, and a scene of a woman beating men in the film now has morphed pictures of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao and ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao.
In the movie, the women beat their sons for participating in a protest. In the morphed video the women are seen asking questions about the promises made by the TRS during the 2014 elections.
