Solar scam report doesn't affect ex-CM Oommen Chandy's charm
Thiruvananthapuram: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is seemingly unperturbed by the solar scam judicial report and as always, is busy with a plethora of party programmes. On Saturday, he was on house visits in Kottayam district where he participated in marriages and funerals. Interestingly, wherever he went, everyone was keen to know who the ‘blackmailer’ was. Sources close to Chandy told DC that the Congress leader received grand receptions wherever he went indicating that the common people were not willing to believe that he had any direct involvement in the case.
Chandy also visited party supporters who were injured in clashes with the police in Alappuzha on Saturday. He will be joining Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala’s ‘Padayorukkam’ on Monday in Palakkad. However, a Chandy loyalist told DC that the public are keen to hear the words of Chandy which will see more people thronging ‘Padayorukkam’ venues in the coming days.
“Chennithala is the rally captain, but there is an ‘invisible’ peoples’ leader in the form of Chandy. In the coming days, ‘Padayorukkam’ will create more flutter wherever Chandy will be joining it, whether Chennithala will like it or not”, said a trusted lieutenant of Chandy. On Sunday, Chandy will be, as usual, busy in his constituency Puthupally where he is expected to attend several family meets organised by the party. By evening, he will be heading for Kozhikode and from there to Palakkad.
